| FOLLOWING RECENT POLICY GUIDANCE
FROM DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE
CLARIFIES SPOUSE EMPLOYMENT
PROGRAM ENTITLEMENT. Refusal by the
spouse to participate in established
recruitment procedures, such as interview,
when requested and submission of properly
completed additional forms when required,
will be considered as a declination of
employment and result in the termination of
spouse preference for the current PCS of the
sponsor.
EMPLOYMENT PREFERENCE FOR SPOUSE
EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM (SEP) ELIGIBLES:
1. You must be wife or husband of an active
duty military member in the armed forces who
entered into marriage prior to the sponsor's
relocation.
2. Your application must be for the Grade NF-
3 and below, and all hourly rate positions.
3. You must request consideration at the time
you submit a DA Form 3433 (application form)
and attach a copy of your sponsor's PCS
orders to
certify eligibility.
4. The period of eligibility begins 30 days
before the military sponsor's reporting date
and ends 6 months prior to the end of the tour.
NOTE: Spouse preference eligibility is
terminated on placement into, or declination
of a continuing position (one expected to last
at least one year) at any grade level for which
the eligible spouse has applied for
employment in either the appropriated or NAF
work force within DOD and whether or not
preference was applied.
